Required training

There are three required training modules to take before onboarding to the new UCSC WordPress service. They include accessibility training, developing website goals, and WordPress essentials. A short quiz to reinforce the training materials is also required.

How to think about developing goals for your UC Santa Cruz website. Website goals can help determine what content to prioritize, and how to measure success.

This course will use a facilitation tool to help you develop goals, connect them to metrics, and how to get others aligned with website goals.

Using analytics to improve your website

Using analytics to help making improvements to your UCSC website.

This training will focus on using these analytics tools to determine the right metrics to measure, as well as how to use those metrics to implement improvements. The training will cover the basics of Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SiteImprove, and provide time for your specific analytics questions.

Length: 30 minutes including the opportunity to ask questions, on Zoom.

Accessibility training

Accessibility is the right thing to do. Creating accessible content is a key step towards developing a more inclusive website and a more inclusive UC Santa Cruz. Understand how to design your content with accessibility in mind, including concepts involved in the technical and social aspects of web accessibility, including roles and responsibilities.

The following modules link to UC Learning Center, and will require login with your CruzID.


Open labs

Collaborative working sessions with your peers and ITS and University Relations staff available to answer questions and consult on best practices. All are welcome to attend and you can stay the whole time or just pop in to get your questions answered.

Open labs are typically held every other week via Zoom on: Thursdays, 9-10am or Wednesdays, 2-3pm.
